Vir Shanti Kumar Jain, IPS (Retd.)

Vir Shanti Kumar Jain, IPS is a Life Member of Delhi Centre for last more than 20 years. Born and broughtup at Jaipur, joined Indian Police Services in 1979. He is a kind hearted person who is right from begining is always ready to help any person who approaches him for any lawful help. This nature of his has motivated him to move toward social service. It is a proud privilege of Delhi Center that a cultivated and talented personality Vir Shanti Kumar Jain, IPS is associated with Delhi Centre and actviely involved in finding the ways and means to provide quality service to the poorest of the poor. He held the coveted office of Chairman uninterruptedly from 1998-2006 having elected unopposed for four successive terms of 2-year each. He, as a very senior police officer and held very sensitive posts of D.I.G. in S.P.G. in Prime Minister’s House, I.G & DGP Chandigarh and Special Commissioner of Police (Vigilance) in Delhi Police. He is at present mentoring Delhi centre as Patron. He has been Governing Council member of MI Apex and at present holding the post of Vice-President. In spite of his official pre-occupation in high sensitive positions, Vir S.K. Jain as Chairman of delhi Centre was always accessible to tender any guidance, direction and advice needed by any one, to participate in formal or informal deliberations connected with the affairs of the Center, presiding over Board meetings and other functions His residence was also freely available for holding Board meetings and other consultations. Even during his postings outside Delhi, Shri Jain made a point to participate in Board deliberations in as much as keeping his commitments as a very senior police officer as well as the Chairman of the Center, to quote one instance, to attend an urgent Board meeting called for his presence in decision making in Delhi, he took morning flight, participated in deliberations and took return flight next morning. During his tenure as Chairman Shri S.K. Jain played an instrumental role in bringing respectability, prominence and eminence to the center by evolving strategy for starting new ventures in the service of humanity involving high dignitaries, bureaucrats and technocrats including PSUs and PSBs with the activities of the Center, arranging donations for service projects. Under his inspiring and dynamic leadership as Chairman, the Center achieved the targeted figure of opening five hospitals across the National Capital Region of Delhi. In the field of Disaster Management Vir Jain was the main brain behind constructing houses for Gujarat earth-quake affected persons. Organizing event “Hope for Light” as Eye Care Day in 2004 with the support of Ghazel Maestro late Jagjit Singh was the most successful and eventful initiative of Vir S.K. Jain in generating widespread awareness about our cause and mobilizing financial support for the movement. Apart from brining the financial base on a sound footing, brought unpredictable and unconquerable heights and glories to the center. During his meritorious and glorious tenure in Indian Police Services he was conferred Police medal for meritorious services & President’s medal for distinguished Services. Considering his clean image, integrity & positive attitude, the LG of Delhi appointed him as a Member of Public Grievances Commission & Police Complaints Authority, Delhi even before his retirement, to hear complaints/ Grievances against Delhi government & Delhi Police. He has also been appointed as a Member of Governing Council of National Foundation for Communal Harmony headed by Hon’ble Home Minister of India in 2016 & also appointed Trustee, Bhartiya Jnanpith.
